Hunting Skill Points Hunting skills are an important part of the website. The more hunting skill points a cat has, the bigger prey they can catch. Without hunters, the Clan would not survive (or you won't survive, if you live by yourself). But, of course, not every cat can catch prey beyond their skill level. Below is a list of prey found in the territory and the skill level needed to catch them:
Insect - One hunting skill point Spider - One hunting skill point Frog / Toad - One hunting skill point
Baby animal - Two hunting skill points Baby bird - Two hunting skill points Lizard (small) - Two hunting skill points
Mouse - Three hunting skill points Sparrow (bird) - Three hunting skill points Robin (bird) - Three hunting skill points Dove (bird) - Three hunting skill points Fish (small) - Three hunting skill points
Squirrel - Four hunting skill points Rabbit - Four hunting skill points Quail (bird) - Four hunting skill points Finch (bird) - Four hunting skill points Vole - Four hunting skill points Pheasant (bird) - Four hunting skill points Rat - Four hunting skill points
Ptarmigan (bird) - Five hunting skill points Fish (medium) - Five hunting skill points Water vole - Five hunting skill points Duck (bird) - Five hunting skill points
Goose (bird) - Six hunting skill points Large Lizard (for example, an iguana) - Six hunting skill points Opossum - Six hunting skill points Egret - Six hunting skill points Raven/Crow (bird) - Six hunting skill points Fish (large) - Six hunting skill points
Raccoon - Ten hunting skill points Snake (venomous) - Ten hunting skill points
Baby alligator - Twelve hunting skill points
Fighting Skill Points Fighting is very importing. You need these skills to protect your Clan (if you have one), your territory, and yourself. The higher your skill level, the more advanced fighting skills you can use. Below is a list of the fighting moves and their skill requirement: Apprentices start at 3 skill points in fighting and hunting, so the list will begin at 3 skill points.
3 skill point
Front paw blow: Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed. Front paw strike: Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the body or face of your opponent. Claws unsheathed. Leap-and-hold: Ideal for a small cat facing a large opponent. Spring onto opponent's back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of your opponent's paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed. Partner fighting: Warriors/apprentices who have trained and fought together will often instinctively fall into paired defensive position, each protecting the other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
4 skill points
Play dead: Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes his grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in an attacking position. Belly rake: A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws across soft flesh of opponent's belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rack quickly puts you back in control. Back kick: Explosive surprise move to catch opponents from behind. Judge opponent's distance from you carefully; then lash out with your back legs, taking your weight of your front paws.
5 skill points
Scruff shake: Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent's neck; then shake violently until he or she is too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, which are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun or kill them. Teeth grip: Target your opponent's extremities--the legs, tail, scruff, or ears--and sink your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.
6 skill points
Upright lock: Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring full weight down on opponent. If opponent does same, wrestle and flip him under you. This move makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it requires great strength and speed. Killing bite: A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.
7 skill points
Snake strike: You dart from side-to-side, confusing your opponent. Strike out with your paws and continue to move around them, making sure they can't leave one scratch on you. It takes a lot of strength and speed to accomplish successfully.
Magic Skill Points Magic isn't as important as the others, but it sure is fun and useful! There are many spells you can cast on others for fun or to harm... But be careful, some spells have side-effects... NOTE: Characters who signed up on the opening day(s) of TFC have 5 magic skill points. Any characters after the opening day(s) have 0 magic skill points unless they earn/buy them.
1 skill point
Bubbles- Look at that! You can make bubbles rise from the water! Ooooh, pretty... These bubbles don't last long, nor do they really do anything. Mostly just for fun. Light-casting- You can make pretty lights, any color! They can appear in thin air just by looking at the spot. This takes some concentration and, if used for a long period, can tire a cat. Also, can be used to temporarily blind or confuse an enemy in battle.
2 skill points
Shadow-casting- Send the area around you into darkness. No more color, no more light. Just... emptiness. It can be as black as your heart desires. This skill takes up a lot of energy and can only be used for a few hours in light cover and a few minutes in complete darkness.
3 skill points
Soft ground- You can make the ground softer with just a glance! Softer ground can bring a disadvantage to your enemies, but you also risk slowing yourself down. You must concentrate for a while to get the ground soft enough to slow cats down, however. Also, can be useful to break your fall! Hard ground- With this spell, you can make the ground harder with a blink of an eye! Useful when traveling over mushy, soggy ground.
4 skill points
Orb of moods- A small orb will appear at your command. The color it lights up with is connected directly with your mood. Red for angry, yellow for content/happy, green for envious, purple for wary/cautious, black for sick/dying/in pain, orange for hungry/thirsty, pink for sleepy, etc.
5 skill points
Small illusion- You can create an illusion of anything you wish! However, it looks see-through and couldn't fool anyone... unless they were in the middle of a battle. Could be helpful as a distraction. Loud caterwaul- Yikes! With this spell, you can screech VERY loudly! However, you're voice will be cracked and quiet for a few hours afterwords. Very useful for alerting Clanmates (or others) if you're in trouble... or if you're looking for trouble!
More prey/battle moves/spells will be added over the days! Check back often!
